Semi-Custom Bont Vaypors

I have been using plastic shims under my right cleat on my Sidi Megas to compensate for a leg length discrepancy. 2 shims under the right cleat made for a very squirrel-y and disconnected feel on the shimmed right foot. I was also having problems with a hot spot along the right edge of my shimmed foot. I figured I was the perfect candidate for a custom shoe.

The Bont Vaypor shoe is available stock in wide widths (a must for me) and has an incredibly low 3.6 mm stack height (when you are adding 6mm to one side you want to start as low as possible). They also do custom and semi-custom shoes. Checked all the boxes (except Italian good looks but form trumps function) in terms of my wish list.

Studeo DNA took my order and made sure I had the bio-mechanics and fit sorted out. A month or 2 later I took delivery of my semi-custom Bont Vaypors. Set up was stupid simple and the results: incredibly solid connection to the pedals, no hot spots and the super low stack height is amazing. Note in the following pic the thicker carbon sole of the right shoe (left image). The left shoe is stock (right image). Yellow band shows stock stack height and pink band shows added stack for right foot. The stock 46.5 W size was a glove fit after two trips to the oven for heat molding. All for about 1/2 the price of full custom.
